Electrochemist

Overall Responsibilities

  • Develop a test set-up / protocol to optimize the electrochemical performance of LFFC catalyst layers

  • Ensure that the test cell design is amenable to electrode fabrication procedures currently in use

  • Identify the important process (e.g. Temperature, pressure, time) and formulation variables (ink composition in terms of binder, solvent and catalyst content and type) involved in the current electrode fabrication procedure and quantify their effect in terms of electrochemical performance.

  • Facilitate interpretation of test cell data and translation of any performance gain into a working LFFC stack

  • Based on the above process parameters evaluation provide input in the development of  new electrode fabrication techniques (that are faster and easier to fabricate with equal or better electrochemical performance) that fit within the framework defined by stack design and integration constraints

  • Use electrode evaluation station to provide input on developing relationships with catalyst vendors.

  • Be aware of fuel cell industry's progress in electro-catalysis and evaluate feasibility of incorporating emerging technologies into LFFC electrode framework
