Military

Advancements in telecommunications and electronic weaponry have changed the dynamic of the 21st century battlefield. Laptops, GPS, night vision goggles, cellular phones, two-way radios, laser-designators, chemical biological sensors, and other portable electronic devices are now ubiquitous for today's warrior.

Currently, primary batteries provide the majority of DC power (5-250W) and the importance of portable power to ground forces is perhaps equal to or surpassed in terms of magnitude only by fuel, ammunition and food supplies. However, major drawbacks to existing battery performance are added weight, low power density and disposal issues.

Because of their higher energy density, the U.S. military is actively pursuing fuel cell technologies that provide portable power for a wide range of battlefield needs as a supplement or replacement to primary batteries and as a recharge option for secondary batteries.

INI Power Systems has a successful history of working with the US Military successfully completing a Phase I and II contract with the Army Research Office demonstrate the effectiveness of a Laminar Flow Fuel Cell approach compared to existing battery standards.
